Originally from The Netherlands, Wilma Baan was immersed in classical and jazz music from an early age. Alongside her career in nursing, she sang with various jazz ensembles at jazz clubs and festivals, including performing with the Jack Redler Quartet at the North Sea Jazz Festival in 1981 and 1983. Radio broadcasts include performing Irving Berlin compositions accompanied by the KRO House Orchestra for a special programme at KRO Studios in 1982. Following a break to bring up her family, including spells in Oman, Brunei and Greece, Baan settled in the UK where she has performed with artists such as Joe Stilgoe and Alex Hutton. Baan released her debut album So Nice in 2021.
